"To conquer oneself is a greater task than conquering others."
A pertinent quote for the day; it can be so simple to fall into a pattern of trying to control our surroundings and those around us. The mind attaches to this concept in an instant, often resulting in a cascading flow of wasted energy; where we try to exert our will onto the flux of life and all of its elements; seeking to govern, rather than allow and move with.
It takes far more courage to look within and illuminate the root of this desire to control, than it does to force our way on another, or our environment. In this enlightened moment there is a practice of freedom, discipline, focus and expansiveness; an attainment of strength, energy and direction. Many of the things we trick ourselves into believing can be obtained by strangling life to death.
With mind-blindness do we control ourselves out of relating, peace and happiness.
After a sweet little trip away, we're back and getting into the rhythm of everything again. Had a great time at the beach on Saturday, and at the organic markets today.
I post this quote, and snippet of writing, with a photo of beets on purpose. As discussed in a previous post, beetroot juice and its high occurring nitrate content (becoming nitric oxide in the body); improves blood flow and oxygenation as the blood vessels are dilated. This mechanism can affect blood pressure within hours; something the control-freak in us can benefit from greatly.(1, 2, 3)
Hope you've had a happy weekend healthy people.
