Enjoying a beetroot, celery, apple and ginger juice this morning. Each veg and fruit offering an array of goodness but my focus today are the beets.. Great for blood pressure levels and oxygen flow; beets contain nitrates which the body coverts into nitric oxide. The result is improved blood and oxygen flow as the nitric oxide dilates the blood vessels.
Nitric oxide is also responsible for the physical performance benefits from ingesting beets. Have a shot of beet juice or simply eat a beet before training and you'll notice an increase in tolerance for high intensity training sessions.
Beets also have a high level of a very important micro-nurtrient, detoxifying properties and more that I will expand on soon!
For now enjoy your weekend and if today is a training day be sure to down some beets as a pre workout!
