My girlfriend makes a mean bliss ball. I'm sure almost everyone has had a bliss ball before, if not you're in for a good time. They're a sweet treat without the refined sugar, gluten or dairy. Here's our recipe.
Ingredients: (preferably organic)
1 cup pitted dates (medjool dates, preferably)
1 cup activated nuts - I use almonds and macadamias
1/3 cup raw organic cacao powder
1/3 cup coconut oil
½ cup shredded coconut
1 tbs chia seeds
To soften dates, soak them in warm water for around 15 minutes.
Add nuts, cacao, coconut, coconut oil and chia seeds to a food processor; this will leave you with a finely chopped mixture. Add dates, and continue to mix until the ingredients are all fairly consistent.
Leave the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes, then roll into bite-sized balls. Roll balls in shredded coconut, and pop in the fridge to harden.
