Hello happy people, here's a modified version of the bliss balls I posted a little while back. This one removes the dates, which unfortunately deliver a high dose of fructose, and can cause bloat if eaten in excess!
The high overall sugar content in dried fruit, resulting in the hit of fructose to the body, is best kept to a minimum. Unlike a fruit like bananas, dates don't contain the water-soluble pectins that normalise carbohydrate digestion, and reduce the impact of fructose on your blood sugar levels.
Here's the recipe.
Ingredients: (preferably organic)
1 cup tahini
1 cup LSA (or finely chopped mixed seeds and nuts)
1/2 cup raw organic cacao powder
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/3 cup coconut oil
Optional teaspoon of locally sourced honey or cinnamon; tablespoon of chia seeds and/or hemp seeds.
Add LSA, cacao, coconut, coconut oil and chia seeds to a food processor for a quick zap; this will leave you with an evenly chopped mixture. Add tahini, and continue to mix until the ingredients are all fairly consistent.
Leave the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes, then roll into bite-sized balls. Roll balls in shredded coconut, and pop in the fridge or freezer to harden.
Tweak the recipe to your taste, and beat that refined sugar craving down.
